Day 187

The holiest of weekends!  We spent two days making six, four foot deep holes on either side of the house.  Not because it was fun, but because we are starting the porches  :)  The last photo  shows the north side of the house where we originally were putting the garage.  Because of that, there is a whole lot of uninterrupted wall.  That equals ugly.  We decided against that garage because the light down the north side of the house at the end and beginning of the day is too beautiful to give up.  It lets the sun in the back yard until late in the evening!  The downside of this decision was no windows were placed here and the kitchen cabinets and the hvac (duct work and venting) is running up this wall :(  Thank goodness for better ideas!  We are placing a service porch on this wall that will also house the bbq.  It will add the much needed architectural detail to this side.  Not to leave the south side out (first photo), we are putting an enclosed porch (screened) where we can walk out from the kitchen.  Lots of sunshine and zero bugs.........this is Ontario after all.  I'm loving all the detail this will bring to the house, and I can't wait to show you the finished product!  Come to think of it..............I can't wait to show you any finished product :(
We had a great weekend with friends and as a result I am a little tardy getting this blog out.  It was great to see everybody for fireworks and bbq.........especially you RLM..........you know who you are :)
