Things are looking up! Finally the kitchen has a ceiling. I have been living with the joists for so long I sort of miss the view. It is amazing how something that you don't think counts from a decorative stand point (you think people don't look at ceilings) makes such a huge difference to a space. Anyone who stopped by yesterday commented on how large the room now looked. Obviously, we didn't change the foot print. But the lighter drywall actually makes the room look taller (it is over nine feet anyway). It also reflects the light which adds to the "bigger" feel. This photo doesn't show it but we have taped and mudded (is that a word?) as well. Now I finally get to focus on the fun stuff! I have an amazing tile for the back plash picked out and we will hopefully get to the crown moulding this week! I can almost see the finish line on this one......... oh, the island still needs to be constructed...... the kick plates for the lower cabinets........ the counter surfaces need to be chosen......... an under counter microwave installed........... the finish trim on the windows ........................ is it time for a vacation? :(
